Biobased traffic signs

During a 3-year project funded by InfraSweden (2021-2024), biobased traffic signs were designed and tested outdoors. The signs were made of LigniSet® resin and reinforced with fibers and fillers. Three demonstrators showed good reflective foil adhesion and outdoor durability for 6 months, facing a tough winter in Karlstad. The lignin used in the signs was provided by Södra, the signs were produced by NPSP, a Dutch biocomposites specialist, and installed by Provia AB, a leading distributor of temporary road equipment in Sweden, with the supervision of Trafikverket.

A Eurostars-funded project in collaboration with NPSP (2022-2025) further explored LigniSet®-based bulk composites for a wider variety of applications, in particular decorative facades.

The outcome of these 2 projects is that LigniSet® is now are flagship product and we are fully committed to the early commercialisation of biobased traffic signs. Focusing on temporary then permanent signs at first, we are striving to soon bring fully biobased traffic signs to the Swedish and European markets as our first commercial product!
