Cycling road pavements

A short project funded by the program LIGHTer Småföretag allowed us to explore asphalt-like pavements in a very specific context. Our partner Modular Cycling, a Göteborg-based start-up, designs wooden cycling path modules to improve urban mobility. The goal here was to investigate whether flexible and bio-based pavements could be used on top of the wooden modules, where regular asphalt cannot easily be applied and used. Several prototypes were produced, and RISE performed characterization, revealing good friction properties for our pavements. Continuations about asphalt pavements in general will be pursued in the near future.
