Water-barrier coatings

The potential of LigniCoat® as a water barrier for paper substrates was highlighted during a collaboration with RISE. Using a simple bar coater and various paper substrates, LigniCoat® could reach excellent water barrier (Cobb 60 value below 0.1, 300 times lower than the reference paper) and decent water vapour barrier performance (below 40 g/m2/day). Continuations involving end users from the pulp and paper industry are pending.
